We engage with European history since the 19th century in a global context. In research and teaching, we combine political, social, and cultural history with transnational and comparative approaches. The content focuses on historical security and research of crises, the history of nationalism, the experience of war, as well as women's and gender history. Other central topics are reconciliation and resilience, civil society and elites, culture of memory and politics of history, as well as Jewish history and urban history.
